A snap goal, late in the second half, scored by S. Bala gave Old Bens SC Veterans a thrilling 1/0 win over Muthuwella SC Veterans in the semifinals of the ‘Thilak Peiris’ Trophy, All Island Masters 11-a-side Football Tournament 2018, at Cooray Park, Wellawatte on January 27.
In the other semifinal played on Saturday, January 26 at the same venue, Maligawatte SC Veterans beat the Super Stars SC Veterans, 1/Nil. The ninth edition of the tournament is conducted by Sri Lanka Soccer Masters Association inaugurated in 1994.
Old Bens SC who has won the title four times in the past, is led by M. Roshan and managed by Athula Perera.
The final between the Old Bens SC and Maligawatte SC will take place on Sunday, February 10 at Campbell Park, commencing at 4.30 pm.
